Emma's Xmas
It's fabulous spending time outdoors,
This December is all happiness and cheer.
For friends, lovers, staff and in-laws,
One of the most meaningful times of the year.

Picture

Enchanted Oak
I had to rub my eyes at first,
Such a handsome old oak tree.
The more my eyes eagerly searched,
There were two doors, counting windows, three.

I paused then strolled the winding path,
I gave a knock on huge double doors.
Could he be in the forest, he who hath,
Through a keyhole, I peeked on all fours.

Moments passed before I called out again,
Hopefully someone might hear.
Such a beautiful home in sun or in rain,
In a magical forest, a whimsical atmosphere.

It seemed an amazing house within the trunk,
Closed doors with mystery veiled within.
I called out again, gave an echoing knock,
Perhaps tomorrow, I’ll drop in again.

Picture

French Connection.
Have you ever had a mosquito bite,
Before you hop into bed.
You hear them buzzing through the night,
Itchy tender bits turn red.

What’s worse is when it’s an imported mozzie,
Not locally born out the back by chance.
Wearing a cheveux bouclés and moustache frisée,
This little sucker flew in from France.

There is an island on the Aussie coast
The locals call it Bribie
You can wake in a sweat from a nightmare
It's another world across the sea.

Picture

At Bribie Island, there's a sea breeze on the bay,
Hang your Sunday best 'neath a leafy shade tree.
A breeze gently swirls in a most natural way,
The best dry-cleaning― is fresh and it's free!

Picture

In the twilight's gentle embrace,
Glancing westward to Curlew Island.
A light show dances in this space,
A painted sky by a golden hand.

Picture

Wanting to get close and personal,
Let my camera zoom up close.
The same sun now, is leaving us all,
Soon moon and starlight shows.

Picture

Out to sea points the sand pumping jetty,
Enjoy the wonderful experience of twilight.
Soon stars twinkle like sprays of confetti,
A more romantic part of the night.

Park Bench2
It seems I’ve been summoned to the land of fines for allowing my furry friend to frolic freely without a leash! Now, I can’t help but ponder if the council, in their infinite wisdom, might soon decree that a fee shall be levied upon those who wish to plop down and savour the splendours of our beloved public land. Imagine it a whimsical toll for the simple joy of resting one’s behind on a bench, as if the very act of sitting requires a ticket to the realm of relaxation! What a delightful twist in the tale of park adventures!

Picture

Summer Embrace.
In summer’s parade, the sky is brilliant blue,
The sun’s rays stretch across the bay.
Kayaking early is what Emma loves to do,
Happily afloat throughout the day.

Distant Love
For now, the tapestry of all my dreams,
My imaginings have sculpted you I must patiently wait.
Oh, precious one, and such a warm heart it seems,
I weaved you from my mind― such a perfect soul mate.

At times I ponder about your far enchanted land,
Could your words be understood by me?
Doth my heart misread the distance, a wishful command,
Yet, for you my love, I’ll traverse the stars what may be.

Smiley faces flicker on screen these sultry nights,
Ev’ry video shows how much fun I’ll be missing.
Greater Cumbrae, where the Aurora Borealis ignites,
And the soul mate of my dreams could be waiting.

I am hoping and praying, your sweet visage to appear,
Such an attractive lure may waketh my soul.
Driven by hope and fuelled by love’s fervent cheer,
For my distant Angel― I shalt conquer ev’ry goal.
