Picture

We’re both out to catch some waves
It’s only a small swell today
It worries me about dropping in
Amongst them in Currumbin Alleyway

You must get out when early morning calls,
Might see some birds that you know.
The Darters, the Cormorants the Terns, the Gulls,
When they’re hungry they’ll put on a show.

We’re cruisin’ out to Currumbin Alley,
Some morning haze, the tide’s super high.
We just left the shallows in Currumbin Valley,
Mangroves and birds― just Emma and I.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like,
To spread banana-sultana-maple syrup on toast?
These healthy snacks magically appear at my desk,
It saves the day― when I’m totally engrossed.

Spring means an early meet and greet,
Today's high tide lies beneath a hazy sun.
Birds take turns to dive for a treat,
Such effervescence― oodles of fun.

Picture

They prop along a sand bank rim,
Eyes focussed on fleeting flashes.
The breakfast feast is never dim―
Tasty early morning catches.

Monday afternoon a wild wind blew,
Past the bridge the white caps were splashing.
The best thing we thought that we ought to do,
Chat ashore where some locals were fishing.

It is not just seen,
But also felt.
Such brilliance lingers on,
In the shadow of night.

Picture

Curly soft fur, harsh lines in wood,
For a brief moment, combined.
Nature tries mimicking― understood,
Emma smiles, why would she mind.

On the work table, where grooming is done,
Scissors click fast, the trimmer will glide.
Emma grows tired― look away, she’ll be gone,
To her favourite spot in the garden to hide.

Picture

Poised with their heads above water,
These snake birds, are patient and thin.
Wings of black― an excellent hunter,
These Darter birds are in wait to begin.
