I paddled by kayak across here with my fur-kid,
When I noticed some movement beneath us.
Directly below swirled one giant squid,
It’s tentacles could wrap ‘round a bus!

Picture

There’s always someone walking up here,
I wondered what may be the attraction.
With lots of boats tied up on the pier,
Of people watching people in action.

Picture

You always see barnacles when high tide shifts,
These sharp little crustaceans of the ocean.
They spread below waterline on keels of ships,
And probably whatever else you find floatin’.

Picture

Here is where a trawler ties up to the dock,
If ever there is seafood to unload.
The sun is fading― Winter now, five-o’clock,
“Clear the deck, let’s get everything hosed.”

My little Emma likes plenty of salt air,
She’s also attracted to water dragons.
Being bigger than her she’ll only stop, sit and stare,
Hard to imagine just what she imagines.

Here is Evandale Lake at HOTA on the Gold Coast,
Over the bridge is music and markets all around.
Bring a towel and a rug with champagne― make a toast,
Have a barbeque/picnic on green shady ground.

Picture

There once were two seagulls looking for a bite,
They danced over the lake in afternoon light.
Then one said to the other,
Their fish tastes like rubber,
I’m sure things eventually worked out that night.

It’s a simple pinhole camera I made,
Just amazing how light is displayed.
Through a pinhole so small,
Beaming through a lens to the wall,
Looks much better if you tilt your head.

Walking along the boardwalk at night,
That LED light is bright.
You hear the waves and feel sea breeze,
A cosy temperature puts you at ease,
Such a perfect setting― just right.

Picture

With so many places to park your bike,
It’s a shame it’s so late at night.
Even the park bench is obviously bare,
Everyone’s home in bed― that’s where,
Some party with friends on an invite.

Picture

Shadows are drawn across the ground,
From Casuarina trees all ‘round.
Better watch where you’re walking,
When bare feet are hurting,
You’ve probably stepped on a seed pod.

Picture

Shadows, park benches and no-one to be seen,
Patchy grasslands are all shades of green.
It’s windy tonight, the trees whistle away,
My dog and I are both feeling weary,
I should be home doing tooth brush routine.

A special place is known as North Burleigh,
Great chicken palmies at the surf club there.
Lots of out and about activity to see,
A perfect setting to relax in salt air.
