One fearless local bird is the Curlew,
You can hear their cries at night.
Throughout Spring they might charge at you,
To protect their eggs in a nest out of sight.

Picture

Head over to Fingal along the Tweed River,
There’s this peaceful little inlet to rest a while.
Blanketing cloud stops bright sun beaming over,
Reflections offer calmness, serenity― and a smile.

Picture

I counted twenty-eight Cormorants,
On the beach, not a shag on a rock.
That can dive as far as fifty metres,
Flying sky-high when they’re in flock.

Picture

While waiting for the sun to come up,
I counted all the lights up ahead.
I wondered about pancakes with maple syrup,
And that strong smell of bacon and egg.

Picture

When most lights disappear on shore,
It means that sunrise glow is coming.
And with it, a whole new day to explore,
The landscape, the lifestyle― just stunning.

Picture

The sun creeps up, barely hidden from sight,
Bobbing far beyond cloud on the horizon.
Where it once used to be the sky turned to night,
Now it’s our turn― let all darkness move on.

Picture

Clouds are swirling above at Burleigh,
Like tides, the air flow keeps changing.
This little lost soul at the start of the day,
Still hides away throughout the morning.

Picture

“I found myself lost in the Bungle Bungle Range,
Quite a challenge and a half just to climb.
Go south of Kununurra, you’ll find me out there,
No rush, take your time― I’ll be fine.”

Picture

Supporting local artists is appreciated by all and one,
Here “Everybody Now” took time out to celebrate.
Kate Baggerson showed us a fab afternoon,
Easy end of the year fun― which was great.

Picture

Ever played Bingo where there’s numbers everywhere,
The royal judges count clues on their hands.
From a sparkling wink, bingo balls in her hair,
A grape eater? ― only the bizarre understands.

Picture

Feeling hungry? Well this you can’t eat,
A hardy growing plant known as Zanzibar.
Wouldn’t taste nice with so much green chlorophyl,
Something like chalk and cheese to a chocolate bar.

Picture

This Dragon Fruit cactus is a host climbing free,
Well anchored with strands of fine root.
The cactus will climb to the top of the tree,
And drop down it’s flowers to bear fruit.

Picture

Poised, watching, prepared to defend,
She watches who moves close to me.
Woolly feet and hot pads she waits to the end,
A family pet as loyal as can be.

Picture

Summer sunshine is beaming at Currumbin,
Little Emma keeps looking away.
She saves her eyes by turning her chin,
You can imagine where she’d rather be today.

Picture

It’s a staircase to a higher place,
Somewhere to the right of the dome.
Eerily it leads you to outer space,
A pause without pores― shiny chrome.

Picture

Splashes on the kitchen sink,
Made changes to their colour.
The heat that glows makes you wonder, think,
Is it a sink or something other..?

Picture

The medical research building in Herston,
Hides in a quiet area out of the way.
It’s a brief bus ride from the centre of Brisbane,
I have an appointment at 9.30 today.

Picture

I rode on a bus to Brisbane City,
Stopping alongside King George Square.
I found a huge room with escalators close by,
Otherwise empty if I were not there…

Picture

Queensland stations are squeaky clean,
Specially since that Covid conundrum.
It’s an all dressed up and no-where to go scene,
Trains are passing with an effortless hum.

Picture

Parked together at the end of the beach,
Sat shoes for Mumma bear and baby bears too.
Seems there were three sets with one pair for each,
A brown pair beneath two pair, pink and blue.
