I bought a load of cereal, uncertain where I might begin,
Being told the bigger box would save me  few pennies.
I attempted re-arrange things to fit the whole lot in,
Everyone says this decade is: “one crazy Roaring Twenties!”

While you’re out walking it’s a great place to meet,
The Surfers Paradise strip for people, puppies and all.
Afternoons you are shaded by high-rise buildings opposite,
That’s the long and the short and the tall.

There might be joggers, people chatting, or baby in a pram,
Stretch your legs, take a seat, watch how time moves on.
Some come outdoors keen to lose that kilo-gram,
Come too late, you’ll miss your moment― the sun has gone.

Ever sat on these steps with a hunch?
To imagine it’s a sling-shot to repel a submarine.
It was merely a hand rail you decide after lunch,
Some holidays may bring fantasy and dream.

Surfing the waves is a fun active sport,
A beachside shower will wash the salt away.
Push a button and in an instant you’re wet,
A summer breeze with a cool water spray.

It’s in stainless steel so it won’t rust or corrode,
It’s high up so crashing waves can’t reach.
Looking quite suspect, will it implode?
That shining armour and four nuts on the beach.

A flying ant was chased by something with eight legs,
And you think it’s easy just to fly on by.
Preparing to flee when he jabs in his fangs,
“Pleased to meet you,” said the spider to the fly.

This little guy is in-wait for wings,
Ever seen a bug so cute―  a butterfly to be?
It keeps chomping over garden leaves and things,
Not too much, so that’s fine by me.

I took an umbrella seeing heavy clouds today,
In flock the gulls stay close together.
It’s sunless― quite an overcast day,
With lunch indoors I’m avoiding wet weather.
